Your Weekly Social Scroll 📜 (11/08/2020)
What's new in social media this week? Finally advertisers can partner up with Facebook Groups and sponsor posts. Facebook push gaming content & more.
🎮 Facebook attracts more users to its gaming content.
380 million people engage with gaming on Facebook every month and now Facebook Gaming is available for download on both Android and iOS.
📧 YouTube ditches video upload and live stream emails.
From this week YouTube will no longer send email notifications to channel subscribers about new and live videos. YT says less than 0.1% of these emails are opened so they’re being retired. Engagement with mobile push notifications plus app and browser alerts is still strong so they remain.
✌️ Double tap of the week.
Advertising opportunities have been extended in Facebook groups. Over a billion FB users regularly engage within groups and now group admins can build brand partnership posts into their public groups.
💡 Tip of the week
If you’re asking why your amazing FB or IG content isn’t performing, look how you encourage engagement in the copy. Unfortunately, "Like This Post, Comment On This Post, Tag A Friend and Share" can be flagged by FB as low quality even if it's not a competition. One solution... Consider wording your post differently, like ‘Who would you take with you to this cafe?"
